Special Olympics Romania Foundation organized, on December 11th, a sports event within the “Motor abilities development project for Down Syndrome individuals – essential step towards an independent life” project, financed through the SEE 2009¬2014 grants, under the ONG Romanian Fund. The Unified Gymnastics Sports Competition was held in a sports hall of the ”I.G.Duca” Secondary School from Petrosani. The competition brought together 75 athletes, with and without intellectual disabilities, from Lupeni, Petroșani, Simeria and Hunedoara . There were athletes from: Centrul Școlar pentru Educație Incluzivă Rudolf Steiner Hunedoara and from Lupeni, Centrul de Pedagogie Curativă Simeria, associations like Down Valea Jiului și ”Pollicino” House , Secondary Schools No. 2 and 3 from Lupeni and host school, ”I.G.Duca”. They have the support of 53 teachers, coaches and parents.
