On 28th of April 2015, Special Olympics Romania Foundation organized a School Contest in the „So Get Into It!” program, in Petrosani, in Marble Hall from City Hall, within the Developing motor skills for persons with Down Syndrome – essential step to an independent life project.(financed through the SEE 2009-2014 grants, on behalf of the NGO Romania fund).
On this event,on Tuesday, by 11:00 untill 14:30, were invited 26 teachers and 57 students from seven public schools : ”Ion Gheorghe Duca” Secondary School, Secondary School No.7, National College ”Mihai Eminescu” Petrosani, Technical College ”Mihai Viteazul” Vulcan, Technical ”College D. Leonida” Secondary School No. 3, High School ”Mircea Eliade” Lupeni.
In three hours of contest, students showed their assesment of young people with disabilities and we saw drawings and significant posters.
The “SO Get Into It!” Project is a program which aims to educate mainstream school children regarding ways of interaction with persons with disabilities. The program is implemented in mainstream schools with the help of a four-lesson guidebook which will be provided to the teachers for free.
