On 26th of February 2015, Special Olympics Romania Foundation organized a School Contest in the „So Get Into It!” program , in Brasov, by the Unirea National College, within the Developing motor skills for persons with Down Syndrome – essential step to an independent life project.(financed through the SEE 2009-2014 grants, on behalf of the NGO Romania fund).
On this event were invited 25 teachers and 50 students from three public schools : Unirea National College, School No. 8 din Brasov, High school of Arts ” H.M. Teutsch”, Schools 15, 25 și 19 from Brasov , School No.3 “Pompiliu Dan” Zărnești, High school “Zajzoni Rab Istvan” Săcele.
On the event attended also a group of guests from Special Olympics Iceland .
For three hours students showed their assesment of young people with disabilities and we saw drawings and significant posters .
The “SO Get Into It!” Project is a program which aims to educate mainstream school children regarding ways of interaction with persons with disabilities. The program is implemented in mainstream schools with the help of a four-lesson guidebook which will be provided to the teachers for free.
